Dr. Charles Thompson is a Human Capital Management Consultant for International Business Machines (IBM). Dr. Thompson uses issue-based consulting techniques to design and implement human capital solutions related to the entire employee life cycle (i.e., recruitment, selection, career development, etc.) for federal government and healthcare organizations. He has authored numerous technical reports and has made presentations at the annual meetings of the Academy of Management (AOM), the American Psychological Society (APS), the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP), and the International Personnel Management Association Assessment Council (IPMAAC).
Dr. Thompson also has co-authored two research-based technical articles published in the American Psychological Association’s (APA) prestigious Journal of Applied Psychology. Prior to joining IBM, Dr. Thompson worked as a personnel research psychologist for the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM). At OPM, he designed and implemented a wide range of human capital solutions for federal agencies, including assessment centers, career plans, competency models, employee assessments for selection and promotion, management internship programs, occupational surveys, organizational assessments, succession plans, and training needs analyses. Dr. Thompson received a B.S. in psychology from Radford University and an M.S. and a Ph.D. in industrial/organizational psychology from Ohio University.
