- Transparency not-yet-accomplished. Alice Lipowicz writes in Federal Computer Week that many agencies have yet to complete their current transparency plans, though their next-gen plans are due in April.
- Mobility on the way. Lisa Schlosser, deputy chief information officer at OMB, talked about mobility in the federal government with Wyatt Kash of Gov.AOL. Key take-away: "Government has a greater 'digital opportunity,' she said. iIt's not just a mobile opportunity. It's really an opportunity to take advantage of a fundamental shift in how consumers use information and how we deliver information as well.'"
- Seeing (and Hearing) Pahlkadots. Jennifer Pahlka, founder of Code for America, gave a much-covered and well-received keynote (see illustrations) at SxSW. She also recorded an interview with GenConnect. As one might expect, Alex Howard scooped everyone by about two years with this interview from 2010.

- The week featured a few high profile departures - at least high profile for the Jerry Maguire way in which they occurred. In addition to Glen Smith's NYT op-ed trashing of Goldman Sachs, we have this gem about Google's former James Whittaker. Each should be seen as a single voice, but the lessons therein may be useful for companies hoping to thrive in a connected century.
- Productive stupidity. There are numerous terms for reaching beyond what we know, stretching beyond our comfort zone, pushing ourselves, etc. Perhaps the most honest presentation is: we need to embrace feeling stupid in order to find our way through.
- Looking for enterprise value from social software, Yammer announces a dashboard to help organizations make sense of their employee's "chatter."
Dan Chenok
- New model for innovation funding
- FISMA report shows security progress and challenges for agencies
- DHS Network interfaces with classified information sharing
