I was honored to co-chair the National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA) panel report for the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) with Karen Evans, Managing Director, Cyber Readiness Institute and Former Chief Information Officer, DHS. Together with panel members, Dr. Marilu Goodyear, Dr. Costis Toregas, and Daniel Weitzner, as well as the NAPA team, the report, "A Call to Action: The Federal Government’s Role in Building a Cybersecurity Workforce for the Nation" was released. The report highlights:
- the cybersecurity workforce and the evolution of the federal response to workforce needs,
- outlines the elements of a government-wide strategy for developing the national cybersecurity workforce,
- presents a governance framework for developing, leading, and coordinating a comprehensive, integrated workforce development strategy for the nation, and
- focuses on reviewing CISA’s cybersecurity workforce development programs and partnerships.
Karen and I joined for a panel discussion with Kiersten Todt, Chief of Staff of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency; and John Costello, Chief of Staff of the Office of the National Cyber Director for a discussion, facilitated by Teresa Gerton, President and Chief Executive Officer, NAPA. The panel addressed building on work done across the government to date and accelerating progress in strengthening the cybersecurity workforce.
